Beyond Foundations

Beyond Foundations is a 2-day lecture and lab-based course, with online and in-person learning, for an advanced experience with dry needling. This course provides instruction in anatomy and neurophysiology for regions across the body to compliment those regions covered in our Foundations in Dry Needling course. Learners will also engage in advanced dry needling clinical strategies and will be introduced to neuromodulation techniques. This provides the learner with a contemporary and targeted approach for most effective dry needling with optimal outcomes.

With 18 hours of in-person learning and 7 hours of online instruction this course qualifies for 25 contact hours.

Previous completion of a post-professional dry needling course. Active licensure in PT, OT, AT, DC, RN, NP, PA, MD, DO.

Mia Ramsey
Mia has practiced physical therapy since 2002 when she graduated with her DPT from Northern Arizona University. She has an extensive background in outpatient orthopedics and a specialty in prenatal and postpartum populations. Across ages and activity levels, and from simple to complex, Mia loves the challenge of treating anyone who comes through her door. She has been utilizing dry needling with electrical stimulation in practice since 2011 and has been a Senior Lead Instructor in post-professional dry needling education courses since 2013. She is passionate about sharing dry needling with other health care providers to help them transform their clinical practices. Mia lives in beautiful Fort Collins, Colorado with her husband. They have two lovely daughters and two crazy doodle-mix dogs. Mia is an active member of APTA .

Keri Maywhort
Keri is an experienced manual therapist who began incorporating dry needling with electrical stimulation into clinical practice in 1998. Currently, she serves as an adjunct faculty member at Regis University where she is involved with dry needling education in the entry-level DPT program, residency, and fellowship. She has served in post-professional dry needling education as a Senior Lead Instructor, Director of Education and Certification Program Director where she focused on the development of dry-needling curriculum, course content and training and development of dry-needling faculty members. Outside of work her passion is raising a beautiful daughter, and as a native Coloradan she is an enthusiast of all that the Colorado landscape has to offer. She is an active member of APTA and AAOMPT.
